1 Before You Install

Before you install DataDirect Connect for SQL/XML, verify that your database version is supported by Connect for SQL/XML and that your system meets the requirements described in this chapter.

System and Product Requirements

Make sure that the Java Virtual Machine is on your path. JDK 1.3.1 or higher is required for using Connect for SQL/XML. If you want to use the JDBC 3.0 API, JDK 1.4 or higher is required.

If you want to use JDBC data sources to connect with the DataDirect Query Builder for SQL/XML and you are not using JDK 1.4 or higher, you must install the JDBC 2.0 Optional Package and the Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI) Package.

Supported Databases

Connect for SQL/XML supports most leading databases including DB2, Informix, Oracle, SQL Server, and Sybase. For details about which databases are supported by Connect for SQL/XML, refer to the following URL:
