Configuring Services Using the OpenAccess SDK Management Console : Configuring Monitoring in a Client/Server Configuration : Integrating OpenAccess SDK Monitoring with the Windows Performance Tool

Integrating OpenAccess SDK Monitoring with the Windows Performance Tool

If you are integrating OpenAccess SDK monitoring with the Windows Performance Monitoring tool on the Windows platforms on which the OpenAccess SDK Server runs, you must explicitly set the required counters in the Windows registry. When the OpenAccess SDK Server installation finishes, the files oaevperf.ini and oaevperf.h appear under the OpenAccess SDK Server installation directory (for example, C:\Program Files\DataDirect\oaserver810\bin). For instructions on integrating OpenAccess monitoring with Windows performance monitoring, refer to the OpenAccess SDK Administrator’s Guide.
To integrate OpenAccess SDK monitoring with Windows performance monitoring:
1. Using a command prompt, change the directory to the directory containing the oaevperf.ini file (for example, C:\temp).
2. Type the following command; then, press ENTER:
lodctr oaevperf.ini
3. If you do not have an active (enabled) monitoring profile that is configured for integration with the Windows Performance Monitor tool, configure one. See Configuring Server Data Sources Using the OpenAccess SDK Management Console for instructions on configuring monitoring. To activate a new monitoring profile, restart the OpenAccess SDK service for which you defined the profile.
Note: If you have a monitoring profile that is not configured for integration with the Windows Performance Monitor Tool, delete that monitoring profile and create one that is configured for integration. Integration must be configured when you create the profile.
4. Start the Windows Performance tool and select the Add to Chart menu item. In the window that appears, select the OpenAccess SDK 8.1 Services object and select the counters you want to monitor from the Instance list box.
